Did you know that New York State is in the bottom ten of all states for voter participation? We are looking to change this statistic in our own neighborhood by ensuring people have the opportunity to register to vote, look up their polling location, and have all the information they need to feel informed when they cast that ballot. Join us for these events or stop by anytime to pick up a voter registration form.
Sign the petition below to demand New York appropriate at least $40 million ($2.00/NY resident) for community based organizations to do the critical outreach necessary to maximize a complete count for the 2020 census. With the impending possibility of a citizenship question and many in our community rightly fearful, we need to ensure people are educated on this census, and that we receive an accurate count, which is critical to our government representation and funding. This petition will be shown to legislators in Albany at a Lobby Day on March 5, 2019.
Visit www.nyc.gov/publiccharge and leave your comments (see document here for a guide on how to do this). This proposed regulation would make it more difficult for working and middle-class immigrants to obtain green cards by using their eligibility for benefits against them. Follow the link below to submit your comments to the Federal Government about these proposed regulations before December 10th.
