Civic Education & Advocacy

Democracy only works if we participate, which starts by understanding the issues we face as a community, as a city, and as a nation. Through our series of education and action events in partnership with America 101 Project we are taking the issues you hear about in the news and learning about them from a variety of angles and contexts, so we can best understand why we need to be engaged, and what actions we can take to create the future we want to see.

What’s Happening: Climate Action in NYC
Mobilize for a sustainable future in our community

Wednesday | June 5 | 6:30-8PM | Manny Cantor Center 6th Floor

What is our current climate reality and what can we collectively do as New Yorkers to rise to the challenge? Join us explore how we got here, and what comes next. We’ll examine climate legislation like a Green New Deal, local initiatives for downtown flood prevention, the economics of “going green”, and corporate responsibility. We’ll hear from top climatologists and researchers to better understand what climate change means for our communities, and the actions we can take to address it.
