Hi! My name is Demetra and when I am not dancing away in class, I am tap dancing every chance I can. As a native Queens girl, I love the diversity that you find here, especially all over the Lower East side where I’m mostly based. My journey started after 10 years of recreational dance including Ballet and Tap in Queens, and then rediscovering my love of dance all over again after Tap dancing and performing all throughout college. I decided to start work teaching Older Adults and Children after graduating and started out as a teaching assistant at both University Settlement Society of New York, and The School at Steps on Broadway. Then, moving up from there, over the course of three years and becoming an ACE certified Group Fitness Instructor, I rose to substitute teacher and then to lead Instructor. I became Silver Sneakers certified and truly enjoyed creating workout and dance classes for Older Asults these past 7 years. I have always loved Creative Movement as a base for learning or relearning how to move your body and then building on those teaching methods, I branched out into various dance and Zumba Fitness classes, becoming Zumba Fitness, Zumba Gold, Zumba Kids, Zumba Kids Jr., and Zumbini certified. I love moving and getting people of all ages and backgrounds involved in exercising and loving their bodies! To me, learning to stay strong and healthy should be fun and I always hope to provide Great feelings of freedom and joy in my classes!
